Some advice ...

Monte Mayor schedules 15 minutes between starting times to ensure fast play-through. Due to the distance and nature of the grounds between the greens and the next tee (click here for distance overview), buggies are mandatory and included in the green fee.

Distances are to the centre of the green

And remember, everything right or left of the fairway is considered lateral water. Read some of the hole descriptions - or even better - try your skills at Monte Mayor yourself sometime!

Some remarks:

3rd:
You do not want to miss the green at the par 3 third - it is the only place to go on this dramatic mountaintop island with ravines on either side. You either place your ball on it, or it's gone.

4th:
The fairway leaps from one plateau to another on this par 5, ending in a green backed by oleander trees and a white marble rock face with a waterfall cascading over it.

8th:
A blind tee shot with the green guarded by natural rock formations. Still many consider this par 4 the 'easiest' hole on the course!

16th:
This long par 5, reachable with a second shot after a long first drive, is a joy to the eye. The green is some 100 metres below the elevated tee - a vantage point where you enjoy spectacular 360 views over the mountains and sea.

18th:
The last hole is another steep downhill par 3, enclosed by lush vegetation and hills. Once you manage to get your ball over the creek that guards it, you re home free!
